Hi Dreamy - yes there's salt in Cuban black bean soup, thanks for pointing that out! I made notes on two pieces of paper, and that got left out by accident, and there's more garlic too - I'll add them to the list. Sweet black beans, that'd be interesting!

Is there a requirement to add salt in this soup? I usually eat my black beans in sweet soup so it's a little confusing :p

Thanks Megan, and welcome to our blog!

Hi Shvetha - yes, Cuba was an exciting experience, with all its peculiarities. And beans are the best (right after tofu)!

hi...I just found your blog. it's beautiful - lovely photos and very interesting recipes. Those Finnish Delights look incredible...and I was intrigued by the Chinese Lion's Head recipe. I look forward to returning to your blog regularly!

Thanks, Ann-Lou!

Smoked paprika is a Spanish spice: it looks like the red paprika powder you can buy anywhere, but is smoked. We buy it from a bulk store that has spices and nuts and organic stuff, and I've seen it in specialty shops that sell spices. It's delicious in any dish that benefits from a deep smokey flavor - you should try it out!
